Charity Chic Fashion Bite: Audrey Hepburn’s Oscar Dress To Go On Auction
If I had a spare £40k knocking around, one thing I would be very tempted to buy is Audrey Hepburn’s famous Oscars gown – the ivory lace beauty she wore when she collected her Best Actress Oscar for Roman Holiday.
This iconic dress is expected to fetch between £40,000 – £50,000 at an auction on 29th November at La Galleria in London.
A bit about the gown in question:
It is made from ivory lace
It was adapted from a design by Edith Head that the actress wore in the last scene of the film in 1952
Audrey referred to it as her “lucky dress”
Ms. Hepburn’s mother, Ella van Heemstra, gave her the dress
This stunning frock was subsequently given to a friend in America and has been stored away in a box at the bottom of a wardrobe ever since….
It’s probably absolutely miniscule and would never fit me but one thing is for sure, I’d be prepared to do the cabbage soup diet (or whatever else works) in order to get into it just once.
